Content: Rumor has Opelousas Lowes management, maybe all employees, getting $1 million for shutting down Home Depot
The real news behind the Opelousas Home Depot closing ... Ok, not news but rumor ... is that Lowes in Opelousas would get $1 million if it shut down the Home Depot.
Now, mind you, I heard this from a Lowes employee a few weeks ago during a general conversation about what it was like to work at Lowes, well before anyone knew anything about Home Depot closing. The store closing wasn't announced until May 1.
I first heard the $1-million was to be split by the management of Lowes in Opelousas. After the news of Home Depot closing, a second employee told me that the rumor has the $1 million being split by all employees of the Opelousas Lowes.
"You know how it goes, they'll probably think of something to get out of it. It's just a rumor anyway," the second employee told me on Tuesday (May 6).
