Obama's Birthers Movement is Republican Right-Wing Crackpot Idea
OFFLINE

Below is a video link created by the Huffington Post in which a reporter goes around Capital Hill asking Republicans “Do you believe that President Barack Obama was born in the U.S.?” A fair amount of them including Congressman Boustany from Lafayette questioned the validity of his citizenship. However, Boustany would later retract his original statement on KPEL and clarify that he does believe that President Obama is a United States citizen.

Conspiracy theories have plagued every modern President and apparently Obama's Presidency won't be an exception. Bill Clinton had the Vince Foster "murder." George W. Bush had “9/11 Truth” and now Obama has the “Birthers”.

Birthers have two main theories: some are people who believe that Obama was not born in the United States. Another theory is that Obama was born in the United states but is not a citizen because his father was not a citizen.

My opinion is that this whole movement is some right-wing crackpot idea cooked up to help generate some negative publicity for the President. I wonder what exactly the people who believe in this movement hope to accomplish? The only thing believing in this Birthers theory would accomplish is ant-patriotism and destroy the barley stabalized economy that we are finally starting to piece back together.

There is no evidence to support this theory. More than a year ago, the editors at FactCheck.org, a nonpartisan fact-checking group at the University of Pennsylvania, tracked down Obama's original birth certificate, and posted nine photographs of it. “FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate,” the editors wrote. “We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false.”  top Republicans including House Minority Leader John Boehner won't give the theory a second thought.

So for people wondering, why the republicans seam to be weak and powerless in stopping President Obama from passing national health care reform this video might clear things up.

The only crazy person in this debate is Obama for calling the rest of us crazy for asking a question.
It's like cjgary71 said. Produce the birth certificate and we'll shut up and go home.

Even if it was true what do you propose? Take him out of office? I'm not exactly an economic expert but the economy usually takes a downturn when it is a Presidential election year. This is because businesses cannot predict which corporate policies they will be subject to. If you changed presidents while the economy is in shambles you would almost assuredly crash the stock market and send this country into a deep depression. Certification of live birth simply means he was not born in a hospital.

There was no original "birth certificate" posted, but rather a "certificate of live birth" that would not be considered a legal document in most states.  The only thing that would clarify this issue once and for all would be a long form birth certificate, which Hawaii has and can be readily provided, if Obama were really concerned about bringing this issue to a speedy halt.  However, his arrogant, self indulgent nature will not allow him to be questioned or to provide this document, for one of two reasons.  One, he is REALLY NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN and is illegally holding the office of executive of the US, or two, this movement takes some of the focus off of his radical domestic and foreign agendas.  Either way, he is not qualified to hold the highest office in the land.
