9:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31 - Well, it's Sunday night, the night before the big storm. Got my windows boarded up, and helped board up two of my neighbors windows. All is calm at the moment, Rob Perillo says Gustave will be bigger than Andrew in 92 and Lili in 02. We'll see.

1 p.m. - TV 3 cable channel 5 has no live shots throughout the day. Only live shots are outside the tv studio. Morning Anchor Tom Vonche, clowing around, brought reporter Muntz a bottle of water as she was reporting from outside the studio. "Only Tom is crazy enough to be out here when he doesn't have to be," Muntz said. Only other reporter seen is Louis David, who brought back video from New Iberia from mid morning on Monday. All of TV 3s reporting coming from emails that viewers are sending in to the tv station. Rob Perillo, Hoyt Harris, Marcelle Bienvenu took over from Tracy Wirtz, Tom Vonche and Dave Baker at 2 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 1 - After losing power at 2:45 p.m., spent rest of the day napping and reading a book by the daylight of a window. Son and wife spend time playing board games. Winds reach top speed around 4 p.m. here in Youngsville. Don't know how fast wind gusts were, but estimate it to be 50-60 mph. Two mid-size branches from neighbor's River Birch tree land in backyard, and bunches of small branches and leaves litter yard. At 5:30 p.m. the winds subside to an occassional gust. Around 7 p.m. started cooking hamburgers and chicken strips on the barbeque pit. Throughout the day, the rain is light, but steady. We open windows in our house, and fall asleep between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 - Electrical power comes back on. We were without electricity for 16 hours here in Youngsville. Everything in our new refrigerator is fine and stayed cold. I turned down the thermostat in the frige earlier in the day, so that may have helped. Drove out to bosses house. No flooding anywhere. Few trees laying over. Lots of leaves everywhere. Bosses house has only damage I could see. River Birch limb fell on his front porch and he has lots of missing shingles from roof. Came home and took down plywood boards over our windows. At 9:30 a.m., weather is bright and sunny.
